Long Beach Flea Market

A few weeks ago I visited the Long Beach Flea Market with my friend, Jaithan Kochar, and his mom.   I had never been and was eager to experience it.  Lets just say, I was a very happy girl when I left with all of my loot!

So here is the low down.  The flea market is in the parking lot of the Long Beach Vets Stadium.  The lack of tree coverage makes for a very concentrated heat, so if you go, dress lighter than I did🙂    The aisles are set up in snake like maze, with little product grouping, so to ensure you don’t miss anything, you really have to walk it all.  Prices are decent, and the products are diverse: from clothing, to furniture and dinnerware.

Look, I found my twin for the day:) in converse, khaki pants rolled high, distressed brown belt, denim shirt, and ray bans… if only I had worn my hat, hee hee.

Here are some of the goodies I saw…

I scored this gorgeous French linen sheet with MY initials on it.   The ladies at Matis Linens were wonderful and  SO happy to see it go to a good home that they blogged about it!

Me and my loot!  I hope you all get the chance to visit the Long Beach Flea Market!

Fresh Living Room

Remember this kitchen?

{Photo by Coral Von Zumwalt for Woman’s Day Magazine}

Well, we just completed the living room and I just had to share.  My fabulous, newly married clients love all things both rustic and modern.  They returned from Dubai with a large piece of art, so we used it as a point of inspiration.   Taking a cue from the vibrant, graphic design of the painting, we chose a bold patterned rug, a playful elephant garden stool, and pops of red and green throughout to create a fresh living room.

And for lovers of Before and Afters…here is the before. 🙂

Thank you Better Homes and Gardens!

Why hello, 2011!  So nice of you to arrive with a bang!

While in the grocery store the other day, I laid my eyes on the January issue of Better Homes and Gardens (I should mention that I had been stalking the newsstands like a crazy woman).  I seized it, opened it up,  and there, on the page staring back at me, was ME!  I desperately wanted to tap the woman in front of me and scream, “That’s me and that’s my home!”.   What a dream this is!   I cannot say “thank you” enough to Amy Panos of  Better Homes and Gardens, Andrea Caughey for producing the shoot, and King Au for shooting it.  This is something that I will treasure forever!

If you haven’t (yet) had a chance to check it out in person, here is the spread:

A Very Kate Christmas

I never tire of Kate Spade’s advertising! The color combinations are beyond fantastic.  So I thought to myself, ” Self, why don’t you use Kate as inspiration for your holiday decor this year?”

I chose ornaments from the Moma Store which can be found at Solo on Cedros.

And I chose ribbon that would play off of the ornaments, but  mixed in a burlap ribbon to give it a more rustic feel.  Then, I  headed to Flora and Ambiance to have Gloria put it all together.

Here is how it all came together.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

**Update**

Did you see Lonny’s post today featuring Kate Spade’s dinnerware.  Seems I am not the only lover of all things Kate! 🙂
